Bird Ticks (Ixodes brunneus) usually present on the head of the host birds (maybe a tick attaching anywhere else would be discovered and picked off by the bird). If not removed, infested birds may be ultimately killed. According to nature guide Harold Diaz of ASA Wright, these ticks are quite common in the rain-forest.
