The Wattled Jacana is the only Jacana in South America. These ones were seen in the Trincity Sewage Treatment Ponds. What's interesting about them is that they're polyandrous birds. Meaning, the male incubates the eggs and looks after the chicks. One female will mate with several males, each with his own territory. Just the opposite of the Oropendolas and Yellow-hooded Blackbirds.
